Apache Innovation welcomes the course that will teach how teachers should manage emergencies and crisis situations in the classroom. An event dedicated to exploring and strengthening our ability to cope with risk and stress situations within schools, and more importantly, to learn how to prepare ourselves to deal with these unexpected situations. Throughout the conference, we will address critical issues that affect both educators and students with the aim of creating safer, more resilient and collaborative environments.
The first lectures will focus on the importance of emotional intelligence in teaching in order to optimise the development of classes. This will be followed by an introduction to the central theme of the conference: the neuropsychology of fear and decision-making in risky and stressful situations. How the brain reacts to fear, which is crucial for developing effective decision-making strategies in critical school environments, will be discussed.
Techniques to mitigate the impact of fear and stress will be explored, encouraging balanced and controlled responses in traumatic situations.
At the halfway point of the course, the technique of ‘preparedness’ will be addressed, which refers to training and learning to prepare ourselves to survive in the face of different catastrophes, emergencies or crisis situations. We will teach how to draw up a School Emergency Plan, in order to provide organised responses to these situations which are always unexpected and occur very quickly and violently.
Stress management in critical situations will be taught through practical workshops, such as breathing and apnoea, emotional self-regulation, efficient teamwork, basic self-defence against intruders and a practical workshop on first aid in the classroom and in outdoor extracurricular activities.
This course promises to be an enriching platform for the exchange of knowledge and experiences and will undoubtedly contribute to strengthening our capacities and creating safer educational environments. Welcome!
But we will also complement these days with excursions and activities that will allow us to enjoy the excellences of the island where we are.
Preparing paella, walking along the dunes of Maspalomas beach, or visiting the Cuevas de Guayadeque are some of the leisure activities we have prepared to make the experience in Gran Canaria as complete as possible.
